The steps below are shortened from the Vauxhall TIS pages for the Speedster. The VX220 shares the same engines and most of the car, but check anything unusual against your own car. The TIS pictures and the full wording aren't reproduced, so use the workshop manual if you are doing the job. We haven't seen owners' accounts of this job, so there are no owner tips here.

Do not support on oil pan.
Front damping block
Turbo (Z20LET)
Remove
- Remove engine undertray (Raise vehicle; Remove 13x bolt, 13x washer)
- Install engine support to engine and transmission assembly
- Remove engine damping block with support bracket from transmission and chassis (Remove centre bolt, nut, then discard; Remove 2x bolt)
- Remove engine damping block from support bracket (Apply match marks; Use hydraulic press)
Install
- Install new engine damping block to support bracket
- Transfer match marks to new engine damping block
- Use hydraulic press
- Install engine damping block with support bracket to transmission and chassis (Do not tighten (Use new bolt, nut); Apply locking compound)
- Remove engine support from engine and transmission assembly
- Secure centre bolt, nut for engine damping block 86 Nm
- Install engine undertray (Install 13x bolt, 13x washer)
- Lower vehicle

Remove
- Underbody cover – see "Underbody Cover, Remove and Install".
Install
- Support the engine from underneath.
- Engine damping block from engine and bracket – bolts.
- Engine damping block to bracket and engine – bolts.
- Underbody cover – see "Underbody Cover, Remove and Install".
Rear damping block
Turbo (Z20LET)
Remove
- Remove engine undertray (Raise vehicle; Remove 13x bolt, 13x washer)
- Remove exhaust pipe undertray (Remove 12x bolt, 12x washer, 2x clip)
- Install engine support to engine and transmission assembly
- Remove heatshield from support bracket
- Remove 2x bolt, washer from support bracket
- Remove bolt, washer from engine cylinder block
- Remove engine damping block with support bracket from transmission and chassis (Remove bolt; Remove centre bolt, nut, then discard)
- Remove engine damping block from support bracket (Apply match marks; Use hydraulic press)
Install
- Install new engine damping block to support bracket
- Transfer match marks to new engine damping block
- Use hydraulic press
- Install engine damping block with support bracket to transmission and chassis (Do not tighten (Use new bolt, nut); Do not tighten (Apply locking compound))
- Install heatshield to support bracket (Do not tighten (Apply locking compound); Do not tighten)
- Secure support bracket and heatshield to transmission (Secure 3x bolt, 2x washer 49 Nm)
- Secure heatshield to engine cylinder block (Secure bolt)
- Remove engine support from engine and transmission assembly
- Secure centre bolt and nut for engine damping block 86 Nm
- Install engine undertray (Install 13x bolt, 13x washer)
- Install exhaust pipe undertray (Install 12x bolt, 12x washer, 2x clip)
- Lower vehicle

Remove
- Underbody cover – see "Underbody Cover, Remove and Install".
Install
- Support the engine from underneath.
- Engine damping block from engine and bracket – bolts.
- Engine damping block to bracket and engine – bolts.
- Underbody cover – see "Underbody Cover, Remove and Install".
Left side damping block
Turbo (Z20LET)
Remove
- Remove engine undertray (Raise vehicle; Remove 13x bolt, 13x washer)
- Release engine damping block from chassis (Remove nut, then discard)
- Lower vehicle to suitable working height
- Install engine support to engine and transmission assembly
- Remove rear road wheel from right side
- Use special socket located under front bonnet
- Remove 4x wheel bolt
- Remove wheel arch liner from left rear (Remove 4x screw, 2x clip)
- Release coolant reservoir tank from support bracket (Slide off; Disconnect coolant level sensor; Move coolant reservoir tank to one side)
- Release mounting bracket from engine damping block (Remove nut, then discard)
- Remove mounting bracket from engine damping block and transmission (Remove 3x bolt)
- Remove engine damping block from chassis
Install
- Install new engine damping block to chassis Note: Ensure locating lug on engine damping block locates in hole in chassis.
- Install mounting bracket to transmission and engine damping block Note: Ensure locating lug on engine damping block locates in hole in mounting bracket. Note: Illustration shows parts removed for clarity. (Apply locking compound; Use new nut)
- Secure coolant reservoir tank to support bracket (Connect coolant level sensor; Slide on)
- Install wheel arch liner to left rear (Install 4x screw, 2x clip)
- Install rear road wheel to left side (Install 4x bolt, security bolt; Do not tighten)
- Raise vehicle
- Remove engine support from engine and transmission assembly
- Secure engine damping block to chassis (Use new nut)
- Install engine undertray (Install 13x bolt, 13x washer)
- Lower vehicle
- Secure rear road wheel to left side (Tighten 4x bolt, security bolt 90)
NA (Z22SE)
Remove
- Underbody cover – see "Underbody Cover, Remove and Install".
- Rear left–hand wheel arch trim – see "Rear Wheel Arch Trim, Remove and Install".
- Expansion tank from the bracket, reposition to one side.
- Ground cable (arrow) from the bracket.
- Support the engine from underneath.
- Bracket from damping block and engine – nut, bolts.
- Engine damping block – nut.
Install
- Engine damping block – nut 45 Nm.
- Bracket to engine and damping block – nut, bolts 45 Nm.
- Ground cable (arrow) to the bracket.
- Expansion tank to the bracket.
- Rear left–hand wheel arch trim – see "Rear Wheel Arch Trim, Remove and Install".
- Underbody cover – see "Underbody Cover, Remove and Install".
Right side damping block
Turbo (Z20LET)
Remove
- Remove engine undertray (Raise vehicle; Remove 13x bolt, 13x washer)
- Release engine damping block from chassis (Remove nut, then discard)
- Lower vehicle to suitable working height
- Install engine support to engine and transmission assembly
- Remove rear road wheel from right side
- Use special socket located under front bonnet
- Remove 4x wheel bolt
- Remove wheel arch liner from right rear (Remove 4x screw, 2x clip)
- Remove intercooler hose from intercooler (Release clip; Move intercooler hose to one side)
- Remove engine mounting bracket from support bracket on engine cylinder block and engine damping block (Remove nut, then discard; Remove 3x bolt)
- Remove engine damping block from chassis
Install
- Install new engine damping block to chassis Note: Ensure locating lug on engine damping block locates in hole in chassis.
- Install engine mounting bracket to support bracket on engine cylinder block and engine damping block Note: Ensure locating lug on engine damping block locates in hole in engine mounting bracket. Note: Illustration shows parts removed for clarity. (Apply locking compound; Use new nut)
- Install intercooler hose to intercooler (Secure clip)
- Install liner to right wheel arch (Install 4x screw, 2x clip)
- Install rear road wheel to right side (Install 4x bolt, security bolt; Do not tighten)
- Raise vehicle
- Remove engine support from engine and transmission assembly
- Secure engine damping block to chassis (Use new nut)
- Install engine undertray (Install 13x bolt, 13x washer)
- Lower vehicle
- Secure rear road wheel to right side (Tighten 4x bolt, security bolt 90)

Remove
- Underbody cover – see "Underbody Cover, Remove and Install".
- Rear right–hand wheel arch trim – see "Rear Wheel Arch Trim, Remove and Install".
Install
- Support the engine from underneath.
- Bracket from damping block and transmission – nut, bolts.
- Engine damping block – nut.
- Engine damping block – nut 45 Nm.
- Bracket to transmission and damping block – nut 45 Nm, bolts 85 Nm.
