Test conditions
- Engine temperature: at least 80 °C.
- Conditioning time: at least 30 seconds (the sheet marks the conditioning time and speed as "Kann" fields). The conditioning speed is left blank.
- Diagnostic socket location: the centre console.
Idle and mixture figures
| Item | Figure |
|---|---|
| Idle speed, manual gearbox | 730 to 950 rpm |
| Test speed for the control sensor signal | 730 to 950 rpm |
| Increased (fast) idle speed | 2,800 to 3,200 rpm |
| CO at increased idle | 0.3 % by volume |
| Lambda at increased idle | 0.97 to 1.03 |
| Sensor type | Step (spring) sensor, not wide band (marked S) |
| Minimum voltage increase of the sensor | 300 mV |
The idle range is wide, so an idle that sits anywhere from 730 to 950 rpm is within the figures. If yours hunts or sits well outside this, there is a fault to find. The wide-band sensor fields (lambda value, amperage and voltage) are blank because they apply only to wide-band sensors.
Engine details on the sheet
- Engine: Z 22 SE, 2.2 litre 16 valve ECOTEC, DOHC, 4 cylinders in line, 2,198 cc.
- Output: 108 kW at 5,800 rpm.
- Emissions equipment: catalyst, EGR and knock control: yes. Emissions class Euro 3 and D4.
- Engine management: GMPT-E 15, made by GMPT. Direct ignition. The fuel system line is blank.
- Model years: MY 2001 onwards.
- Octane: 95 RON (85 MON) recommended, with 91 RON (82.5 MON) as the alternative. Unleaded 95 is the normal pump fuel in the UK. We haven't seen what happens to the engine running on 91, or whether the Speedster behaves differently from the VX220.
The sheet also holds German registration and tax data (manufacturer and type codes, tax-free months, tax class). It isn't useful for UK owners and we haven't listed it.
