Check what they currently offer, and ask other owners about their experience, before you commit to work or a purchase.
Workshops and specialists
- Type 116 Motorsport, Rawdon, Leeds. A workshop for Lotus and VX220 cars: mechanical work, servicing, pre-MOT checks, exhaust fitting, supercharger installations, suspension refreshes and VX220 restoration. Also sells some performance parts and accessories.
- Max 88 Performance, Towcester, Northamptonshire. Parts and servicing for the VX220 and Lotus, including Z22SE supercharger components, A, B and C services, suspension refreshes and engine swaps.
- MMG Performance, Peak District. A workshop with over 25 years' experience on Lotus and VX220: servicing, engine conversions, remapping, tuning, suspension and geometry, body and insurance repairs, parts development, fault finding and electrical work, and race-specification builds. Work is by appointment only.
- Courtenay Sport, 4 Folgate Road, North Walsham, Norfolk NR28 0AJ. A tuning and motorsport specialist for Vauxhall and Opel. It has VX220 sections for the Turbo and the 2.2 16v with tuning packages and remapping, and parts for the engine, transmission, cooling and fuelling. Also offers servicing and M32 gearbox rebuilds.
- Road To Race, Wilden, Bedford. A workshop and fitting centre that also sells performance parts for road, track and race cars, in suspension, braking, engine, servicing, fluids and fasteners. Its front page doesn't mention the VX220, so check that a part is listed for your car.
- Back On Track Motorsport, Slyfield Industrial Estate, Guildford, Surrey. A Lotus specialist founded in 2007: servicing, MOT coordination, geometry setups, performance upgrades, suspension refreshes and braking upgrades. Its front page doesn't mention the VX220, so ask whether they work on one.
Parts suppliers
- VX220Bits, Pirbright, Surrey. A parts retailer for the VX220, Speedster and Lotus, including Z20LET and Z22SE engine parts. The site lists items such as exhaust downpipes and silencers, limited-slip differentials, high-pressure fuel pumps, suspension, throttle bodies, clutches and motorsport electronics.
